Flat Stanley in NYC Part 3

When we last saw Stanley he was visiting the different sites in NYC showing us how things are different there during the pandemic.  Just as a reminder from our first article; Mrs. Murphy’s class at VPA created this Flat Stanley and sent him to Michael Conwill in New York City right before the schools went on the extended break.  They would like to share with you the many adventures that their Flat Stanley has experienced during this pandemic.  Here is the link to all pictures in this article:  https://bit.ly/VPAflatstan

Flat Stanley has seen some famous theaters. People go to theaters mostly at night, and sometimes during the day. All these theaters are closed now so we won’t get sick. Flat Stanley went out to see some of them lit up at night.

Carnegie Hall is a very famous place. It’s a big theater that’s for music concerts. All kinds of performers play or sing there, and it means you’re really good if you get to perform at Carnegie Hall!

If you look down the street from Carnegie Hall, those lights down there are in Times Square. Do you remember the pictures Flat Stanley sent from Times Square?

Here’s another very famous theater, Radio City Music Hall.

It is a very big theater with a very big stage. And it has a famous dance company called the Rockettes.

One day Flat Stanley saw Lincoln Center.

Lincoln Center is a group of different theaters. There are theaters for films, plays, and ballet, but the most famous are two in these pictures.

David Geffen Hall is the one with the red sign on it. That’s where the New York Philharmonic performs. That’s the oldest orchestra in the United States, and it’s one of the best.

The building with the five round arches is the Metropolitan Opera. Operas are plays where the people in them sing their parts instead of speaking them. This is one of the most famous places to hear operas in the whole world.

Everything looks so empty now with everyone staying at home. Here’s a picture of what Lincoln Center looked like when people were going to the theaters at night.

Flat Stanley keeps seeing the Empire State Building!

New York City has lots of tall buildings. The Empire State Building was the the tallest building in the whole world for a long time, but now there are even taller buildings. Now there are six buildings in New York City that are taller than the Empire State Building. But it’s still the most famous.

It’s so tall it’s hard to take a picture showing all of it!
