Marion pivoting to virtual school Friday for staff vaccinations

At the Marion School District, we are committed to providing the safest possible learning environment in our schools. For this reason, the Marion School District will hold a Covid-19 vaccine clinic on Friday, February 5th for faculty and staff.

Due to the challenges associated with acquiring the large number of doses of vaccine necessary, securing the appropriate personnel to administer the vaccine, and other issues that can arise when conducting a vaccination event of this scale, the Marion School District will pivot to virtual learning on this day.

As with other school districts throughout the state who have pivoted to virtual learning for differing lengths of time on various occasions due to Covid-19-related issues, Marion will offer appropriate services to MSD students, including providing meals and educational services.

  • Meals for Friday will be sent home with students on Thursday afternoon, along with the regular weekend meal distribution.
  • Text and/or phone messages will be sent out by each campus providing additional information.
  • Regular school schedules will resume on Monday, February 8th.

We believe this is a vital step in protecting the health and safety of both our staff and students. We also hope this day will be a solid “test run” for our schools in the event that we are forced to deal with an unexpected closure in the future.

As always, we thank you for your patience and support as we continue to navigate this ongoing health crisis and this unprecedented school year.
