Back-to-school

With the 2023-24 school year set to kick off on Thursday, July 27, the Marion School District has scheduled several back-to-school events for students and parents to prepare for the new school year.

Open houses for all three Marion magnet schools will be held on Thursday, July 20. Marion Junior High (grades 8 and 9) will have its open house on Monday, July 24. For Marion High School and the Marion Seventh Grade Academy, open house has been scheduled for Tuesday, July 25. All open houses will be held from 5-7 p.m.

Additionally, each Marion magnet school will host kindergarten roundup events for students starting school for the first time.

For families preparing to purchase school supplies for the upcoming school year, lists for all schools except MHS can be found here: https://tinyurl.com/bdf88yrz. High school students will be able to get lists directly from teachers at open house or on the first day of school.

Monday July 10-Friday, July 14

  • HCGC Uniform Resale, 8 a.m.-3 p.m.

Monday, July 17

  • HCGC Kindergarten Kickoff, 5-6:30 p.m.
  • MST Kindergarten Camp, 5:30-7 p.m.

Thursday, July 20

  • MST “Come get the Scoop” ice cream extravaganza and open house, 5-7 p.m.
  • VPA open house, 5-7 p.m.
  • HCGC Watermelon Social and open house, 5-7 p.m.

Sunday, July 23

  • VPA Kindergarten Casting Call, 3 p.m.
  • VPA Fresh Start (indoor and outdoor activities), 4-6 p.m.

Monday, July 24

  • MJHS open house, 5-7 p.m.

Tuesday, July 25

  • MHS open house, 5-7 p.m.
  • 7GA open house, 5-7 p.m.

Thursday, July 27

  • First day of school, all campuses
