Marion Junior High is excited to share that one of our own Pre-AP English 8 students, Yared Belete, was chosen as the first place winner from the school district for the Patriot's Pen scholarship essay competition. Patriot’s Pen is conducted nationwide, this VFW-sponsored youth essay competition gives students an opportunity to write essays expressing their views on an annual patriotic theme. Yared wrote an amazing essay in response to this year's theme, "What Makes America Great". His essay is moving on to the state competition level, which will be January 25 in Little Rock. There, he will compete against eight others, and could be chosen as the state finalist. If he is chosen, then his essay will continue to compete for the big prizes at the national level.
