We at MJHS-The 7th Grade Experience are excited to introduce a virtual Fall Service Day for our 7th grade Student Council. Our 7th grade counselor Ms. Lovely is hosting this webinar event in our library October 8th from 11:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. This year’s Fall Service Day will feature Ruby Chitsey - founder of Three Wishes - and members of its “Kid Board,” a group of youth activists (ages 10-13) who share a common goal: to give back to the elderly population. This conversation with Ruby and three Kid Board members is intended to inspire students that they, too, can make a difference in their community. Students will experience the story of Ruby’s non-profit, find inspiration through the Kid Board, ask questions, and hear ways they can support 3 Wishes from home or in the community.
Ruby Kate Chitsey is a 12-year-old Arkansas native who is the founder and CEO of the nonprofit organization “Three Wishes for Ruby’s Residents.” The organization is led by youth activists who raise awareness for the 1.5 million residents living in America’s nursing homes and provide them with small items of need to make their life “sweeter” and more enjoyable. She has an emphasis on those residents who are impoverished and who are trying to make ends meet on a small government stipend. Ruby has raised more than $300,000 for her cause since 2019 and fulfilled more than 3,000 wishes to seniors.
