The Marion Patriot Pride Band defeated 23 bands from five states en route to a Grand Championship Saturday at the Eastern Shore Classic in Daphne, Ala.

The Marion Band earned superior ratings in color guard, percussion, music, general effect, visual, and overall band performance. Out of all classifications, Marion also won Overall Best Music, Overall Best Woodwinds, and Overall Best Visual performance on their way to the overall title and season high score of 95.8.

TrophiesSaturday’s victory also included Marion’s first contest victory over perennial Mississippi powerhouse Ocean Springs High School.

What’s up next for the band? On Saturday (Nov. 1), the Patriot Pride will travel to the Liberty Bowl in Memphis to compete in the Bandmasters Championship sponsored by the University of Memphis. Then, on Wednesday, Nov. 5, the Patriot Pride will vie for the Arkansas state title at the 6A State Band Contest in War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock.
