Mrs. Johnson’s 3rd grade drama students have been learning how to apply stories from their English Language Arts lessons to the stage. After studying how to adapt characters, plot, and setting of a story to a script, the students took to the stage to act out scenes from one of their Arts and Letters texts, Amos and Boris, written by William Steig. Arts-integrated learning is the heart of VPA! ♥️🤍💙

Ms. Coleman’s students at VPA were hard at work during UFLI! Using letter tiles, students practiced building and changing words while strengthening the connection between sounds and letters. Ms. Coleman modeled the routine, provided explicit prompts, and gave students hands-on opportunities to practice both encoding (spelling) and decoding (reading).
We love seeing students actively manipulating letters, thinking about sounds, and building strong foundational reading skills one word at a time! ❤️🔤👏
