Happy National Library Lovers Month! Ms. Terri Sturghill, MHS Library Media Specialist, has been donating books in efforts to impact literacy in our community instead of discarding them. Recently, East Arkansas Youth Services and East Arkansas Enterprises were among the recipients of some amazing reading material.

MHS HOSA members (Health Occupation Students of America) will be heading to Hot Springs for the State HOSA Leadership Competition where they will compete against other medical students from across Arkansas in over 60 events. Good luck! #ReptheM

Students in Mrs. Lauren Cleek's AP English Language and Composition classes and Ms. Raven Dillard's AP English Literature and Composition classes are working hard to prepare themselves for the upcoming AP Exams. Today they participated in a mock AP exam. Preparation is the key to success!


Congrats to Floyd Stewart for being selected to the All State Male Chorus. He will travel to Hot Springs to be a part of the All State Music Clinic where he will perform with the top high school choir students in Arkansas.


MHS will be closed for Presidents Day Feb. 14th-17th.


Today is Safer Internet Day. Let's continue to educate ourselves on how to make the virtual world better for everyone.

February is Black History Month. A time to honor the contributions of African Americans from all periods of U.S. History.


Feb. 3rd - Feb. 7th is National School Counseling Week. MHS would like to thank our school counselors for their hard work and dedication, not only to the academic growth of our students, but also to their social and emotional health. Thank you Jonnett Gammill, Dionne Harris, and Melissa Kohl.


Attention Patriot Nation: Huge congratulations to junior Destiny Nelson. Today, she was elected as FBLA District II Vice President. Destiny will begin her tenure on the District II Leadership Team at the State Conference in April. Congratulations Destiny! Mrs. Rakestraw and MHS are SO proud of you!
Also, congratulations to the following FBLA members for earning a spots to compete at state in their respective competitions: Tamia Taylor, Ziona Smith, Ariyah McClain and Asia Tunstall, and Amiya Gudino!


We had our first (hopefully now annual) MHS Math Competition from 4pm-6 pm yesterday. 29 students participated. They worked hard and all seemed to have fun. Categories included Algebra II, Precalculus, Statistics, and Calculus. We awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards in each subject area.


MHS will have ATLAS interim testing next week (Tuesday - Friday). Students must have charged chromebooks.


MHS would like to thank the ladies of the Omega Nu Zeta chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. for their generous donation of hygiene products and PPE bags to the Pop-up Patriots Store, sponsored by Ms. Raven Dillard and MHS National Honor Society.


Marion High School AWARE Counselor, Mrs. Jasmine Peel, launches the “Being Present Matters” campaign. The campaign highlights the myriads of reasons students are absent from school and how to remove those barriers. With the collaborative efforts of parents, educators, and CIS site coordinators, we can keep a kid in school, prepare them for life.
