Since day one of this school year, our faculty and staff have been working feverishly to simultaneously provide for the needs of both virtual and in-classroom students. Over time it has become clear that while their effort has been remarkable, any expectations of sustainability of our current model throughout the remainder of the semester are simply unrealistic. Beginning, Monday, November 2, 2020, MSD will shift to a 2:00 p.m. daily release time for all K-12 students. This will provide time daily from 2:00-3:30, for teachers and staff to work on planning and preparation to better support virtual and quarantined students. This schedule change will remain in effect until the end of the 2nd 9 weeks, at which time its effectiveness will be evaluated. Information regarding Pre-K will be released shortly. Some key points about the new schedule · Dismissal at 2:00 p.m. each day · 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. dedicated to teacher planning and preparation · All classes will be shortened, but will still meet daily · Boy’s Club after-school care will be adjusted to a 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. time frame at all three magnet locations · Para-professionals will continue to work normal hours with possible adjusted assignments from each building principal. Thank you for your continued dedication and commitment to the well-being of our students and community. Dr. Glen Fenter
