Mrs. McCracken's freshman Honors English students have been studying Greek and Latin word parts this week. Each day students received 18 Greek and Latin prefixes, roots, and suffixes and came up with a list of everyday words that utilize the given word parts. Their daily challenge was to use any 3 of the 18 words parts to create a new word and definition based upon the meanings of each selected word part. Multiple vocabulary entries were voted upon by faculty and staff members as "the best made up word," and Thursday's winner was Zoey Davis.
Stay tuned to find out which winning word from this week will make one of these super students the Greek and Latin Vocabulary Bowl Champion!
Zoey's winning word and definition:
astrolumicle--the light formed from a star
